Our History
“Human Rights House Yerevan” (hereinafter, HRH Yerevan) currently unites 6 different organizations working in the field of human rights protection in Armenia. HRH Yerevan mainly works in the sphere of protection of human rights defenders. Human Rights House Yerevan became a member of Human Rights House Network in 2012 and registered in Armenia in 2014. It also serves as a platform for different civil society organizations, movements and civic initiatives to join efforts in protection of human rights in Armenia. HRH Yerevan is also a member the South Caucasus Network of Human Rights Defenders.
Organizations
PINK Armenia was established in Armenia, in 2007. The organisation aims to create a safe space for LGBT people by promoting legal, psychological, social protection and well-being.
The mission of Real World Real People NGO, established in 2003 in Armenia, is increasing the quality of life of people living with HIV and their families.
Women’s Resource Center (WRCA) is the first resource centre created in the post- soviet Armenia for young women, working in the area of women’s human right, reproductive and sexual rights, sexual violence and women’s role in the conflict resolution and peace building
Societal Research and Consultancy Center NGO Socioscope is a research organization, which was established in 2008 by a group of young social scientists.
Armenian PEN center is official member of PEN International – a worldwide association of writers, founded in London in 1921 to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere; to emphasize the role of literature in the development of mutual understanding and world culture; to fight for freedom of expression; and to act as a powerful voice on behalf of writers harassed, imprisoned and sometimes killed for their views. The center in Armenia, which was among the first post-Soviet countries to join the global family of PEN, was established in 1991. It was founded by the renowned poet and translator Gevorg Emin. In early 2000s late Mika Danielyan, the prominent defender of human rights, took the secretarial post at the center. From 2020 center joined Human Rights House Yerevan.
Sexual Assault Crisis Center is a community resource for victims of sexual assault.
SACC can tell you about resources available in Yerevan and help you get through the aftermath of a recent or past sexual assault and regain control of your life.
Services available at the SACC:

– individual counselling
– referrals SACC can accompany you in any proceedings you decide to undertake (medical, legal or other)

Protect, empower, and support human rights defenders and organizations in Armenia.
Human Rights House Yerevan aims to:
a) To unite efforts of member non-governmental organisations and to promote cooperation amongst non-governmental organisations, as well as amongst other human rights and fundamental freedoms protection and promotion non-profit organisations operating in Armenia.
b) HRH Yerevan will be an independent structure aiming to provide a common space and auxiliary facilities to human rights NGO’s operating in Armenia, particularly: to let them use the library of the Union, to provide them rooms for seminars and conferences, to provide a space envisaged for meetings and legal consultancy services.
c) Therefore, the objective of HRH Yerevan is to encourage and to alleviate the people’s access to human rights organisations and to promote the visibility of the work done in the field of human rights and the protection of individuals and organisations engaged in human rights protection activities.
